Terrier Mix – Male – 12 lbs – 1 yr (approx.)
Sponsored by Cole, Bryson and Maeve because every dog deserves safe and loving home.
Dean is a 1 year old terrier mix who has made his journey from Ohio to find a family of his own. He’s a sweet, loving happy go lucky little guy who would make a wonderful addition to any family.
Dean loves people of all ages and loves to snuggle up with his humans. His sweet and gentle nature makes him suitable for a home with small but respectable children. He’s currently living with two children in his foster home ages 8, and 5 and absolutely adores them.
He gets along well with other dogs and has done well with cats. He’s is currently living with two small senior dogs in his foster home and loves them. He’s tries very hard to get them to play but they are older distinguished gentlemen and prefer to spend their days laying around. He would love to have another small playful dog in his forever home to play with but is not a requirement.
He’s a playful little guy who loves his toys. Stuffy toys are his favourite and a good bone to chew on. So a good selection of those in his forever home will make him very happy. After a good play session he enjoys a nice well deserved nap.
When coming to his foster home many things were new to him such as going for a walk and house training. However he is a smart little guy who has learned very quickly. And being food motivated has made training very easy. He knows that outside is where he does his business now. However he is kept on a schedule and let out regularly so his forever family will have to continue with that to ensure his success. He walks well on a leash but has not learned yet that walks are also to do our business. So they are strictly exercise only at the moment. Therefore a fenced in yard is a must as that’s where he prefers to do his business currently.
He is crated when his foster family is out. He will whine and cry for a bit but settles quickly. At night he sleeps with his foster family in bed and peacefully sleeps the night away.
As is very common in small dogs, Dean has a luxating patella in his right, rear leg. The vet graded it as 2-3 and his mobility is not affected. This grade of luxation is not requiring surgical intervention. To optimize Dean not having issues in the future, he needs to be kept at a healthy weight. Supplements such as glucosamine chondroitin and/or omegas can also be helpful.
If you are looking for a sweet, loving, playful happy little guy Dean just may be your guy.
