Coco is a sweet, sensitive little Westie who has spent her entire life in a puppy mill. Now that she finally has the chance to experience love and safety, she’s learning what it means to be a dog — and she’s doing beautifully.
Coco came to Save Me after spending the first 6 years of her life in a puppy mill. We are so proud of the great strides she has made in a short time. Coco is still a bit skittish and can be reactive to new or sudden noises, but underneath her worry is a truly gentle soul. She’s sweet, curious, and shows more bravery every day. She’s hesitant with new people at first, but once she realizes you’re kind, she warms up and shows her affectionate, trusting side. Coco LOVES other dogs — big or small. She gains confidence around calm, friendly dogs and would thrive in a home with a canine companion to help show her the ropes. Coco needs a quiet, patient home with people who understand that trust is earned slowly and kindly. She would do best in a household that is calm and predictable, will give her the time and patience she needs to feel comfortable, and understands that she is still has a lot to learn about the world after her very limited life experience.
Coco loves her toys but can be a toy destroyer so supervision is needed during playtime. She has an excellent appetite and being food motivated has made house breaking easier. When let out on a regular basis she is very reliable and it is clear that she knows that she is expected to do her toileting outside. The freezing cold weather, of late, has made things a bit more challenging. Coco has mastered the stairs but still needs some encouragement to go up and down. Her personality is really starting to come out, and we think that there is a fair bit of Westitude just ready to start showing us.
Coco’s foster family have realized that they are “her family” and have foster failed. We wish them many happy years together.
