Chloe

Save Me Remembers

Sponsored in memory of Bobby from his groomer, Nancy.

We are saddened to be sharing the loss of another of our palliative dogs. Chloe left us, surrounded by the love she had been enveloped in for the 5 months she spent with her foster mom, Josey. Chloe was not expected to be a palliative dog when Save Me brought her into rescue. A mammary lump was discovered and post surgery testing showed it to be invasive and aggressive. Without a seconds hesitation Josey made it her mission to fill Chloe’s remaining time with love. Here are Josey’s thoughts on Chloe’s passing….
“Peacefully and surrounded by her foster brothers (Save Me Alumni Oscar and Oaklea) Forever Foster Chloe passed over the rainbow bridge. We knew it was coming and she doubled her expected time with us. I like to think it’s because she loved it here so much. Chloe’s last week was filled with shooting stars, fireflies, sunrises and sun sets, beach walks and countless laps around the yard. Her strong girl chi energy will be missed and always remembered. Thank you to everyone on the Board for their incredible support and for always being available to chat about Chloe and her cancer diagnosis. I’m also very grateful to Carleigh Cathcart and Talbot Road Vet for their amazing care of my own dogs and the fosters. Thanks to them Chloe was able to pass away in the yard that she came to love so much over the past 5 months.”
Chloe touched many hearts and will be greatly missed. We are grateful to Josey, and her extended family for all they did for Chloe. The rescue would also like to extend our thanks to Talbot Road Veterinary Services for their kindness, care, and support.

Had Chloe been spayed at a young age, she would not have developed mammary cancer. Spaying before the first heat 100% prevents the formation of mammary tumours. Each heat raises the risk. Very sad that this was entirely preventable for sweet Chloe.
