Cheyanne is a sweet petite 1yr old terrier mix that is ready for a family of her own. Though timid at first, once she trusts, this little lady eagerly looks to her family for guidance. She enjoys playing with her toys, snuggling with her foster mom and car rides. She especially loves her walks around the neighborhood and trails and politely sits and waits for her harness. During walks, she is shy meeting new humans and dogs, but she is gaining confidence every day.
She loves her treats and is eager to please her family, which is great when training. With her age and energy, having another equally energetic confident dog to help her learn and build her confidence would be ideal. Her foster home has a dog and a dog-savvy cat, and Cheyanne has done well with slow introductions. She does get jumpy when excited so older children would be best.
During mealtimes, Cheyanne uses a slow feeder. She loves chewing her toys and will sometimes chew blankets that she is lying on, but she has not chewed anything else. When her foster mom works from home, Cheyanne curls up and sleeps right by her desk. Once outside, she loves to run and chase the frisbee or ball toys. Bringing them back is a work in progress. She is working on basic commands like come, sit, stay, no and leave it.
Cheyanne hasn’t asked to go outside yet, but with routine there have been minimal accidents. A home with a securely fenced yard is required, as she follows her nose and does have a prey drive. She is crated overnight, and when she is left alone. When she first arrived, she would softly howl when in the crate, and with routine it’s lessened. She is generally quiet but does bark to get her foster fur sister to play. Even though other dogs bark, she has never been reactive.
She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and is microchipped. Cheyanne arrived to rescue with an eye infection, and it is clearing up with antibiotics.
Cheyanne has so much potential and is ready to bring love and snuggles to her forever home.
