Looking for a fun-loving, silly, playful, senior boy who loves to be your shadow? Well say hello to Bo!

Bo found himself in a Tennessee shelter, and with the help of rescue partner RUFF, he was welcomed into a Save Me foster home in late September. It was evident immediately that this senior boy, although a little nervous and unsure of his new surroundings, was a complete sweetheart through and through.

Bo loves to be by his foster mom’s side, whether it’s spending time on the couch, following her around the house, or snuggling up together at bedtime (where he loves to be cozy under the blankets right at her side!). If you’re looking for privacy, keep searching! Bo has several other foster fur siblings and he frequently tries to play with them. Unfortunately, they don’t quite share his enthusiasm or energy and don’t tend to appreciate his gestures. He would likely do well with another dog who enjoys a bit of banter, or even a no-pet but playful family. Although Bo tries to engage with the other dogs in his current home, he also gives possible signs of anxiety and uncertainty around them (lots of lip licking). He is perhaps trying to understand his place within his new circle.

Bo also exhibits separation anxiety when his foster mom goes to work for the day. When unsupervised, he currently stays in a large pen with everything he needs. He will bark and cry when foster mom leaves, and intermittently through the day. He is able to settle in his bed for periods of time, but not consistently. He was recently trialed being left to free roam in the house when foster mom went out, and was found sleeping soundly on the couch with the other dogs when she checked in on them. He may adapt better when not being penned or crated, as long as he is in a safe environment. While in his pen, Bo uses potty pads, although has also used his blanket for his business. Otherwise, he generally does not have accidents in the house and does well when he is let outside regularly.

Bo walks well on a leash but is startled by new or unfamiliar sights and sounds he comes across; he will need time to build his confidence when out in public.

Bo recently had a complete dental and had 15 teeth removed…wowzers! He will need a recheck at the vet prior to officially being adopted, but he is excited to find his perfect forever home in the meantime!

It is important to remember that Bo, and all dogs coming into a new environment, need time to adjust and decompress. Bo is extremely loving and is yearning to be loved in return, but he is understandably a little unsure about everything. He will need some confidence building to help him grow into his best self. He would likely do well with someone home most of the time (he would LOVE that!), someone who can bring him on outings with them, and with or without other pets as long as he is able to have some regular play time. There is no doubt that once he truly feels safe and loved, Bo will blossom!
