Sponsored by Eva, in memory of her beautiful and most beloved Muffy. My shadow, my sweetheart.
Adele has already survived more than any dog should. After spending her early life as a breeder dog in a puppy mill, she is only now learning what safety, tenderness, and home are supposed to feel like.
And through it all, she has remained incredibly gentle.
Adele is a soft, loving little soul with beautiful orange-and-white colouring, expressive eyes, and unforgettable eyelashes – one brown and one white. More than anything, she wants to be near her person. She is happiest curled up in a lap, resting quietly at her foster mom’s feet in the home office, or climbing onto the bed for a precious morning cuddle.
The world is still new to Adele, and sometimes it feels big and frightening. Sudden sounds startle her. Outside can feel overwhelming. A leash is still something she is learning to trust. It will take time for her to be able to enjoy the pleasure of going for a wall. But every day, in small and brave ways, she shows that she wants to keep trying. With the help of her foster family and the other dogs in the home, she is beginning to understand that backyards can be safe, routines can be trusted, and life can be kind.
She lives with three dogs and a cat, and little by little her personality is blooming. She has joined the welcome committee at the door, follows her people from room to room, and settles well when left alone for a few hours. She is mostly housetrained with regular reminders, does not guard food, and is slowly adjusting to her crate at night – although, if it were up to Adele, she would sleep as close to her people as possible.
Adele is not looking for a perfect home. She is looking for a patient one.
She will thrive with someone who understands shy dogs, moves at her pace, and knows that trust is built gently. The family who welcomes Adele will not only be giving her a home – they will be giving her the life she has always deserved. And in return, they will gain a deeply devoted, tender little companion who simply wants to love and be loved.
At this time, Adele is not taking applications while she continues to receive extra care, but her foster parents are open to inquiries at potterpa@rogers.com.
