Harley has been adopted!
Harley recently arrived into our rescue all the way from Kentucky. He was picked up as a stray by dog control and was not claimed by his previous owners. This is hard to believe as he is just the sweetest, loving, friendly little guy that must have been in a home where he was cared for.
Since we don’t have any history regarding Harley’s age a few different vets have guessed his age at between 3-5 years. His teeth are in excellent shape and he is full of energy which make us feel he is probably closer to 3 years.
Harley’s perfect forever home would consist of having another young doggie brother or sister playmate and a secure fenced yard to run around and play in and be on squirrel patrol. Harley loves to be near his people and spends his evenings snuggled up on the sofa watching tv and being stroked and brushed. Harley would benefit having a new mom or dad familiar with leash aggression that could help him with some positive reinforcement techniques. This is a very common issue with small dogs that can be overcome with some patience. We have been practicing Harley’s leash walking and he is progressing well and becoming more relaxed and less fearful when meeting other dogs on leash.
At bedtime Harley loves to be near his people and sleeps in the bedroom in his dog bed or with his people and settles down very quickly. Because of Harley’s small size respectful children over 12 years would be fine. Harley has not been exposed to cats so we are not sure of his compatibility with them.
He is an absolute joy to foster and he would be a loving companion to any family.
