Little Jovi is a sweet, sweet girl. This beautiful little cinnamon-coloured poodle is gentle, quiet, & soulful. After spending the first six years of her life as a puppy mill mama, she is only just beginning to discover what it means to be a dog and someone’s companion. Every day, a little more of her true personality and we have a feeling there is a very bouncy little poodle in there waiting to come out!

Walks may just be Jovi’s favourite thing in the world.
The moment she realizes you’re heading toward the door, she’s ready to go. She currently enjoys two approximately 30-minute walks each day and loves sniffing and exploring along the way. She walks beautifully on leash and stays close to her person, watching carefully for walking cues because of her limited vision.

Jovi is learning that people can be pretty wonderful, too. Affection asks from Jovi are quiet and subtle. She might stare at you, gently sniff your arm or hand, or give you the lightest little feather-touch with her nose. If you aren’t paying attention, you might miss her asking. She enjoys gentle pets, scratches and belly rubs, is comfortable being picked up and will happily sit on your lap or fall asleep beside you. She’ll follow her foster around the house but is also perfectly content settling into her favourite spot on the couch. With new people, Jovi is shy but curious. She appreciates quiet, unhurried introductions and is startled by loud voices and unexpected noises – like velcro is a big no no.

Jovi has severe cataracts and is almost completely blind in one eye. She adapts remarkably well, although judging what is directly beneath her can be difficult, so going down stairs and navigating curbs sometimes requires a little assistance.

Home life? Jovi is an absolute dream. She is completely housetrained and has had zero accidents in her foster home. Jovi hardly made a peep when she first arrived, but she’s recently discovered that she has a voice. A dog on television or somewhere in the neighbourhood may now earn a couple of tiny barks. At night, she sleeps peacefully in her own designated sleeping area. She’s been left home alone for a couple of hours without issue and travels very well in her crate in the car.

Jovi has met a number of dogs and has done well, particularly one-on-one. The most animated we have seen her was when she met a neighbour’s Labrador. Suddenly that little nub was wagging and Jovi couldn’t get enough of her big new friend. A friendly, confident canine companion could be a lovely fit for Jovi and perhaps help show her the ropes about how to be a safe and free dog.

Jovi’s perfect little world
A quiet, gentle adult home with a patient, dog-savvy person would suit Jovi beautifully. Someone who is home a fair amount would be lovely, and while a fenced yard isn’t necessary, her beloved daily walks definitely need to remain part of the deal! There is still so much for Jovi to discover—and experiencing this sweet little girl discover her new found freedom will be such a treat!
