Little Miss Susie arrived into Canada from a puppy mill in Ohio August 8. Typical of the puppy mill mamas, Susie was very scared, loving the security of her bed in the corner of a room. What you will notice first about Susie is her eyes. Aside from being a very unique colour, there is a deep element of trust, hope and love. In such a short amount of time, Susie has learned to trust the hands that pet and feed her, and is now brave enough to initiate this touch. Susie has learned and loves going for walks, is uninterested in other people or dogs that she passes, taking in all the smells that her daily walks provide. She is completely housetrained, and has a good appetite for her food and treats. She has made herself at home and gets along wonderfully with her foster siblings and our two cats. The name Susie is new to her, she is beginning to respond when called and her ears perk up when she is told she is a good girl. Susie sleeps through the night, (snuggled in bed with her foster parents and 3 foster siblings) and is generally a quiet girl. Fast movements still startle her, and occasionally when she gets the zoomies, she startles herself!!!! She loves to give and get kisses, and follows the direction of her new dog friends.
I am so proud of Susie, she is experiencing all things in this world for the very first time. She has lots to learn, but if her first little while as a loved pup is any indication, the sky is the limit for this gorgeous girl!
