Meet Greta
Greta is a sweet 7-year-old Havanese, weighing about 4.5 kg (10 lbs). She is spayed, vaccinated, has had her dental work done, and is hoping to find the patient, loving home she deserves.
Greta spent the first seven years of her life in a puppy mill, where she was used for breeding. She was only recently rescued and is now, for the very first time, learning what it means to be a beloved family dog.
She is a smart little cookie and a remarkably quick study. Greta is always watching the other dogs, taking everything in, and learning from them. In a very short time, she has already learned how to use the stairs, goes in and out to the backyard on her own, and is pee-pad trained. She is also slowly learning to walk on a leash and really seems to enjoy getting outside and exploring.
Greta currently lives in Toronto with two other dogs and three very dog-savvy children who understand how to give a newly rescued dog the space she needs and how not to overwhelm or frighten her.
*Greta feels safest in the company of other dogs, so her forever home must have another friendly resident dog.* She relies on other dogs for reassurance and also learns tremendously from watching them.
*A secure backyard is important for Greta as well.* Because leash walking is still a new skill, having the freedom to go in and out to the yard on her own will make her transition and continued potty training much easier.
Greta is beginning to learn that humans can be a source of affection and comfort, but this is happening in very small baby steps. She needs someone patient who will allow her to progress at her own pace and celebrate all those little victories along the way.
*She does bark, so condo living would not be the best fit.*
Underneath her uncertainty is a happy, curious little girl who is starting to discover how good life can be. And she has already figured out one very important perk of family life: *she loves sleeping in the human bed!*
Greta is non-shedding and looking for someone with lots of love and patience, a resident dog, a backyard, and room in their life for a very special little girl who is only just beginning her second chapter.
