Megan

Cavapoo – Female – 23 lbs – 5 yrs (approx)

Sponsored by Sue McCarthy – For the love of all creatures

Megan is sweet and affectionate, though still skittish about noises while learning daily about how the big world works. A five year old Cavapoo mother from a puppy mill, she once flinched at the sound of leaves crunching on our walks and now she loves the trail in the woods. With regular, well-timed outdoor time, she is house broken and eats well. Meg is still probably a flight risk if she got loose. She can climb stairs easily now. Megan responds happily to other dogs and greets them cheerfully, and is surprising good with large groups of people in the house, even though she can be startled by the sound of a recliner opening, or a loud cough. Her little nose is telling her that house guests means interesting food smells … she almost helped herself to a shrimp ring, until she heard the word, “No”.

Meg will now stay in her comfortable, open crate all night until she hears the early riser getting up for coffee, and then she moves to an even cushier couch she has claimed as one of her retreats. Not surprising with her early life, she can flip between relaxed and happy with us to acting like she has never seen us before, and then it takes calm energy and patience for her to remember she is safe and loved. She howls when left alone. On the floor, Meg circles closer and closer if you call her (does not know her name yet) but she wants to come over, yet, so far, she just cannot do it. On “her” couch, she will come over for snuggles, and she will move to be near us, if we locate to another area in the house. She reacted well to getting brushed and to having her feet bathed after coming in with Spring mud in her paws. We play and sing her lots of music and it turns out, her favourite song is, Over The Rainbow – clearly a dog with commendable music appreciation!
