Gracie Girl, GG Mama, Wiggle Butt, Prancer Dancer….are all names that describe the sweetest Cocker Spaniel EVER!!!!! Grace arrived at our home November 19th, she was a scared, smelly, matted mess who knew nothing outside of her Mill world. Living in a barn all her life, Gracie produced many litters of beautiful puppies, taken and sold for a profit time and time again.
As soon as she arrived, she loved her warm bath, she promptly went to Kingsdale Animal Hospital for a thorough exam. She was scheduled for surgery to repair her cherry eye, remove a benign cyst and of course spay her…her puppy producing days are OVER! Grace had dental cleaning and one tooth extracted.
Fast forward two weeks, this girlie has learned so much! The simple things one would think every dog knows, Grace had to learn. Eating and drinking out of a bowl instead of a trough, being handed a treat, taking it gently, and human hands, give gentle pets and scratches. Oddly enough it seems Grace was house trained, but since the snow, (which she hates) she has preferred to do her business on a peepad. A collar and a leash were foreign to Gracie Girl, and going for a walk was something she experienced for the first time. Grace’s world doubled when she learned how to go up and down stairs, and sleeping in a comfy bed is much better than the cold floor. She loves to lounge on the couch, and finds an empty lap to snuggle into.
Grace greets everyone with love, wiggling with joy when her foster family comes home. She is trusted with full reign of her home, cohabitating with three dog siblings and two cats. She chooses where she sleeps, usually right beside our bed at night. She is a perfect mix of independence and social. She now adores going for walks, hops and jumps when she is excited, and loves to dance on her hind legs for a treat (taken so gently) or to just get a higher view.
Grace is a wonderful girl who deserves all the comforts life has to bring. She is a beautiful, happy healthy Spaniel who has so much love to give.
