Sponsored by Toba, in honour of Toby, Riley and Penny. Every furbaby deserves a loving home and happiness.
Milan and his brother Lucca, found their way to Save Me, through a group that advocates for Ontario dogs that have been discarded by puppy mills/backyard breeder/breeder situations.
Milan has just had surgery to remove his back left leg. While Milan was the healthier of the two puppies, he arrived with a (healed) damage to his back left paw. X-rays were done and it is clear he suffered some sort of trauma that left a partial paw. Unfortunately, Milan limped and tried not to use the paw if he could avoid it. The paw was sensitive to touch and threw off his gait as he compensated for it. He is recovering and doing really well.
He’s a super playful and happy puppy. Watching him learn new things in comical. He loves being told he’s a good boy and all the chest scratches that go along with it. He enjoys his toys and wrestling with his furry fosters siblings. He just wants to be everyone’s BFF. He has great energy and would do well in a home with other dogs. He seems to like children and would do well with kids that are respectful of his missing leg and puppy playfulness.
Milan and Lucca have had a delayed start to life, not being sellable by the breeder, they were crated/living in one area. They are therefore are only now learning about house training and running loose in a home environment. They are adjusting wonderfully and learning quickly, but both need to be adopted with the approach that they are young puppies. They will need house training and (as with any puppy) shouldn’t be left unattended. Both are being taken outside often and are catching on well, but not perfect. Given how smart these two are, it won’t take long, just a matter of needing a routine.
Though Milan just had his surgery, we do not anticipate any issues and we are going to start accepting applications for this guy. Milan would be ready to head to his new home around April 5th, once his stitches have been removed and he’s been given the all clear by our vet.
