Onyx is still looking for her forever home. Her siblings have all been placed with their families. Now it’s her turn. Onyx is 12wks old now She is so pretty and so smart. She was the adventurous one of her group. She learned to climb out of the x-pen first. She concurred stairs by herself first. She is such a social dog. She loves people and all the other dogs and the cat in our home. She will go through any length to get to them. She is fun and lively and will bring be great in an active household. As expected, she has a ton of puppy energy but she is also sweet and cuddly and loves when we spend time training her. She is the master of “sit”.
They were born April 9/10, 2018 and will be ready to go to their new homes on the week of June 11. She had her first set of vaccinations at 7 weeks. She received her second set of vaccinations at 10 weeks and will get her third vaccination at 12weeks. Given the current size of the puppies, we feel they will likely grow to be large dogs, but we can’t say for sure what they will weigh. They are huskies mixes and will require a yard with a high fence and an active family.
These puppies have come from northern Ontario. Up to this point, they have had very little training and so many things are brand new to them. Onyx loves to chew on everything she can as her baby teeth are growing strong. She will sleep through the night now in her crate. She can go about 8hrs without an accident in her crate at night. During the day she still needs to go outside every 3hrs as she is being housetrained. We are working very hard on her basic skills such as redirection to puppy toys, house training, crate training and basic commands. Onyx is such a smart girl. She is catching on very quickly. I am sure she will do even better in a home where they can focus on her training (she is one of several dogs in this house which means she does not get 100% of the attention).
As typical with puppies, they don’t like to be alone. When we leave the room or crate them during the day the puppies exhibit signs of barking and whining for us to come back before settling down nicely. The ideal home would have someone home during the day and that is willing to provide the necessary training that a young puppy requires. It is highly recommended that they attend puppy classes to learn basic skills and socializing. Untrained larger breed puppies, become a handful later on, if they do not know what is expected of them, both in behavior and social skills with other dogs.
If you are looking for an active dog and willing to put in the time, effort and energy it takes to raise a large breed puppy, please consider Onyx. Her disposition could not be any sweeter. She would love to be part of a family that will take her outside often to walk or hike, or go to the park. She loves being outside and she loves being active and social. With the commitment to her training, she will make a wonderful companion.
As with most puppies, we are typically overwhelmed with applications. We do appreciate your patience as we consider each application, and also your understanding if yours is not selected at this time. Please do watch our website and Facebook page, as we do have puppies from time to time and also consider other dogs in care that are in need of a loving home.
