Howie has been adopted!
Sponsored by Stefan’s friends at SAS Canada, in celebration of Debbie & Stefan’s upcoming wedding
Howie, who was a stray, is very shy of new situations. He is leery of those he does not know and is uncomfortable in new situations. He is settling in well with his foster family. They are taking things slow with him and letting him show them when he wants belly rubs, to cuddle or to chill out in his crate. Once you earn his trust, he loves your attention. He follows his foster around in the house and is enjoying many belly rubs. We do not know what has happened in his past to cause this initial mistrust, but once he learns you’re a good person and worthy of his trust, you will have a wonderful companion.
He is a bit overweight at 29 lbs and appears to have been loved in the past. He knows some commands and even surprised his foster family with how he sat pretty waiting for a treat. Howie enjoys his walks and sometimes pulls a bit. He voices his pleasure when he knows he is going for a walk. He didn’t complain when his belly and feet needed to be dried off after a 50 minute walk. We are hoping regular exercise will help him lose a few pounds.
He is good with other dogs and has taken the cues from his furry foster sister that she likes to be left alone.
We are hesitant to put him in a home with kids as he will need a home that has very little variables and a good solid routine. At this point he would simply be enjoyed more by a mature couple that can take the time to m earn his trust and show him what life is all about.
