Howie

Howie has been adopted!

Sponsored by Tryphena A., in celebration of her daughters 1st birthday. Happy Birthday Miesha!!

This incredible handsome senior guy is looking for his forever family!

Senior dogs are the least likely to find homes when they are in a shelter. Howie was rescued from a shelter in Ohio, after spending a fair bit of time there waiting for adoption. At Save Me Dog Rescue we believe that seniors ROCK! Love truly does not have an age limit!

Looking at Howie’s photos can tell you just how happy this guy is. His big brown eyes and a curly tail that wags constantly along with his calm demeanor is always ready and willing to meet and greet any dog or human he comes across. He is very food motivated and will do circles and give a few happy barks when his foster mom is preparing his meals. Show him a treat, and he is at your side instantly!

Howie is a quiet guy that enjoys time in his crate when his family is out. He sleeps through the night in the master bedroom on a doggie blanket beside the bed. He walks very well on a leash and enjoys his simple walks throughout the neighborhood. He is an independent guy that enjoys companionship without sitting on your lap looking for cuddles; he prefers to be at your feet napping while your watching tv or working on the computer. He doesn’t require a fenced in yard.

Like a lot of aging dogs, Howie has bilateral sclerosis which is the medical term for “haze” in the lens of his eyes and hearing loss which are both considered normal for a senior dog. Due to this we suggest that his forever home have children over 10. Howie’s teeth are in great shape and he had a dental while at the shelter in Ohio.

At this point, Howie has not shown an interest in toys; however, this may change as he become more comfortable in his foster home. He is all in for belly rubs and is not too shy for ask for one!
