Gracie is available for adoption

Sponsored with love by Moon Parker

Introducing Gracie! This little peanut with a heart of gold travelled from Tennessee to become a Canadian. We’re not sure what her life was like in the past, but she is safe, happy, and healthy now! Gracie is looking for a stable and loving home. Her favourite things are food, head and belly scratches, and a comfy bed. If you scratch her particularly well, she’ll reward you with tiny kisses. She’s a sweet and perfect little lab lady and super low-maintenance!

This gentle girl gets along well with other calm dogs and would be fine with cats, too. She would be best in a quiet home, with someone who works part time or is retired. Older, dog experienced and gentle kids only, please! Gracie has not made a sound in the time she’s been with us (she’s hard of hearing), so she could perhaps live in a townhouse or condo. A home with no more than a couple of steps would be ideal. Gracie can climb several steps, but has trouble going down more than two stairs when the lighting is poor. She is completely housetrained and non-destructive. Gracie can be left with free run of the house and will nap while you’re gone.

Gracie saw the vet in Tennessee and upon her arrival in Ontario. She was previously spayed, and is now up to date on vaccines and her flea/tick and heartworm treatment. She was initially sore in the shelter and was given anti-inflammatory medication, but she no longer takes that and seems comfortable. In her former life, Gracie picked up a mild case of ehrlichia, a tick-borne disease. The treatment for this is a course of antibiotics which she has completed. The vets both confirmed that Gracie has a heart murmur (Grade 3 out of 6), but she has no symptoms of any heart problems and does not require any treatment for this. The good news is that Gracie takes no medication, and as she feels better her sweet personality is beginning to blossom.

Gracie still has a lot of life left to live! She is looking for a forever home where she can enjoy her golden years as a golden girl!
