Gilbert has been adopted!
Gilbert is an adorable chihuahua mix who is searching for his perfect forever home. He is a typical chihuahua in many ways for example he loves to cuddle, particularly burrowed under a blanket. He hates the cold but can bask in the sun for hours. And he bonds very strongly to his people.
Gilbert seriously LOVES cats, we joke that it’s because he thinks he is one. So naturally his is ideal home would be one with a cat in it. He can be nervous of other dogs but with a slow introduction quickly comes around. He is now great friends with our two large dogs but does need to be given time to adjust to new dogs.
Gilbert was previously in a home with children but was visible unhappy in such a busy environment. Given this history we will be looking for an adult only home for Gilbert or one with older children. In our adult only home, he has flourished and has been incredibly friendly with everyone he has met.
Gilbert has food related allergies and requires a specific diet to keep them under control. His current food costs approximately $75 a month so his new home will need to be prepared for these costs. Once we switched him onto his current diet his skin healed up quickly, so we are confident that if he remains on this food his allergies should not be an issue.
Gilbert is fully house-trained and loves to go for walks. He has been such an enjoyable dog to have in our home, so easy going and low maintenance, we can’t wait to find him his perfect forever home!
