Sammy has been adopted!
Sponsored in celebration of a special young lady’s birthday
Hi! I’d like to introduce you to Sammy! Sammy is a 4 year old, 16 lb chihuahua mix. He loves people, affection and chasing chipmunks.
Sammy is Man’s Best Friend – he is my husband’s little shadow. Sammy likes to hang out, just chill on the couch beside his humans. And then he plays, jumps and runs around like a puppy. Sammy is okay on walks; he likes to smell a lot and he doesn’t yank on the leash, but he does have work to do. We know he is good with families and teenagers, as we had a family staying with us for a few days. However he hasn’t interacted with anyone younger yet. He met our next door neighbours and their French bulldog Lucy, and everything went well, although Sammy was a bit of a close talker.
Sammy was found as a stray living on a mattress in an abandoned lot. His people never came for him, and it is puzzling because he is a good boy. As I write this he has come up to cuddle with me and get some kisses and gentle hugs. FYI Sammy does a great Dobby impersonation.
He doesn’t know what to do with toys. He is gentle taking treats and likes to sleep under the blankets with his humans.
Sammy has a loud bark but is quiet most of the time. Sammy has not had much alone time in his foster home and would love a home where someone is around a lot. He will need time an practice to gain confidence in being left alone. Fenced yard preferred because he follows his nose and completely ignores commands at that point and he would do better in a house rather than an apartment.
Things we are currently working on with Sammy:
Recall
Paying attention even when there are new smells to explore
Not being such a close talker when meeting new dogs
Gaining confidence on being left on his own
Pooping outside every time
Standing on tables to get a better look outside
I will provide updates as we get to know more about this little guy. I’m happy to answer any questions you have!
