Abigail is adopted!
Introducing Abigail!!
This little sassy girl comes from an indigenous reserve in Northern Ontario. Abigail as well her siblings were rescued by an organization that works with Northern communities to reduce the population of dogs by providing spay/neuter and taking unwanted dogs and puppies. Save Me Rescue is proud to assist in finding amazing forever homes for these puppies, that are referred to as “Nordic mixes”. What is a Nordic mix? They are often a combination of Husky, Shepard and Lab, but you never know quite what you are going to get!
Abigail is approximately 10-12 weeks old, she weighs 5 kg (11lbs) and could weigh up to 70-90 lbs so don’t let her small size fool you!! Abigail is the smallest and most vocal of the group. The tip of her tail is missing due to unknown cause. She is highly intelligent and timid at times tending to hover around her human and sit back and watch her siblings explore and met new people. In the short time Abigail has been in Foster, she has learned cats have bad breath but aren’t scary anymore, sitting patiently not giving sass gets dinner and one on one time, the crate time is quiet time/bedtime but this may take time for her to settle and potty time is to be done outside… but being a puppy is still in need of training. Abigail sleeps in a crate, covered with a blanket throughout the night providing no light or sound occurs once she settles.
Abigail has had her first medical exam on March 4/19 in which she received her first booster shots. She was also dewormed at this time. Abigail’s colouring and coat indicate shepard/husky mix as a result she will require weekly grooming and maintenance due to heavy shedding as time goes by. Bathing would be best done at a groomers or by person with a lot of experience as she finds it highly stressful and requires more reassurance and patience then her siblings. Nail trimming was done at the vet and was tolerated well.
Abigail is now looking for her very own forever family. An active family/individual that has the time to take him keep him well exercised, once fully vaccinated. A fenced yard for additional exercise is a plus. We highly recommend training for Axel. Training will teach him to look to his owner for direction, assist with his socialization and also teach him the basics that every dog should know.
As with most puppies, we are typically overwhelmed with applications. We do appreciate your patience as we consider each application, and also your understanding if yours is not selected at this time. Please do watch our website and Facebook page, as we do have puppies from time to time and also consider other dogs in care that are in need of a loving home.
