Hello everyone! My name is Petey.
I find myself searching for a new family to call my very own. I am very sweet and very cute, and compact!
I am young, only a year old, so I do need some supervision as I like to explore and get into things. I am learning all kinds of things at my foster home, but do hope that my new parents take me to training classes as I am young and eager to please. I think I would really enjoy some official training, just like any puppy would.
I am house broken, but again, I am young… so I should be reminded to go outside regularly to prevent accidents. I am pretty good on a leash, I am small so I can be startled easily by the big world around me.. but a little encouragement goes a long way. I am not a huge fan of being left alone in a crate, but I am trying to learn to appreciate having my own space while my foster parents go to work or step out for errands. So I do bark with displeasure at this, but I am VERY quiet otherwise.
I do love to cuddle!! A LOT! I love to also snuggle under the blankets in a big bed with my humans. I also like to jump up on the couch and roll around in the pillows, though my foster mom keeps telling me that my “breed” really shouldn’t be jumping from high places.. we are trying to come to an agreement on that.
I am good with kids, but they should be aware that Dachshunds need to be handled gently & carefully because of our backs. I love other dogs, but I really don’t care for cats. So I would prefer a home with no cats please.
I am young and happy and just want to be friends with everyone. I have a WHOLE lot of love to give and really want to find a home of my own.
If you would like to learn more about me, please contact my foster mom.
